Open Spaces! How Tech Can Empower Civil Society
The Hub’s meet-up on 13 January 2020 will be a special evening, as we showcase the four prototypes developed directly with civil society’s input, hear from prominent speakers, and layout our vision for 2020 and beyond.
During the Hub’s pilot phase, we listened to civil society and gathered their most urgent needs. Join us at our interactive meet-up to hear first-hand accounts from civil society actors who helped build our four prototypes, learn from experts’ takes on the state of civil society in Europe and also contribute to the Hub yourself: give your two-cents on the current state of civil society throughout the event and discuss these visions with other participants at our reception.

As our pilot phase comes to a close, we have a lot to share. After organising two workshops that brought together members of civil society from over 20 countries, we categorised their input into four main challenges for civil society across Europe: community building, collaborating on ideas, sharing resources and gaining funds. We brought these challenges to a hackathon in Tallinn, Estonia, where civic tech actors were able to develop four prototypes. This interactive process made one aspect clear: The Hub should create spaces that can match and network civil society across Europe.
